About Us New Overseas Traders, a Fair Trade company in business since 1987, sources, selects and imports a range of beautiful gifts, furniture and a range of household items for retailers across the UK and Europe. Behind every product is a story of local people driving their local economy. All goods are manufactured by hand, aiding local employment in India and with minimal use of electricity.

As well as supplying hundreds of independent retailers across the country, New Overseas Traders has three retail shops, called The India Shop, in Wantage, Marlborough and Salisbury.

Making A Purchase Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our Catalog, and click on any items that you wish to buy and put them into the shopping cart.

First orders are always proforma. Proforma is sent out only once the goods are packed and ready for dispatch. The goods are then held for 10 days.

All goods are subject to VAT are supplied to trade only.

All goods remain the property of New Overseas Traders until paid for in full..

New accounts opened are subject to satisfactory bank and transfer references. (credit terms: 30 days from the date of invoice).

If payment is made with the order then less 2.5% discount plus VAT (this does not include first orders).

Shipping And Handling Carriage is paid on orders over £175 for the UK MAINLAND and £300 for EIRE except on furniture (including beds) where carriage is at cost.

There is no minimum order however minimum carriage payable:

Packet: £3.50

Carton: £6.95 for UK Mainland. Elsewhere by arrangement.

Carriage by post is at your risk. Transit insurance will not be affected unless requested in writing.

Export carriage is at cost which we can quote upon confirmation of your order.

Delivery Schedule We aim to despatch your goods within 5 working days.

Back Orders Subject to availability orders are delivered in part of in full. In case of non delivery no claim can be accepted for loss of profit.

Tax Charges All goods are subject to VAT.

The minimum export order is £200 except for Eire. A £10 administration charge may be added unless payment is made by credit card. These website catalogue prices should be treated as "ex-warehouse but including packing". No VAT is chargeable on exports outside of teh EC. Customers in the EC should give us their VAT/TVA number otherwise we must charge VAT.

Credit Card Security We know of no documented cases of credit card fraud using our shopping system over the Internet. All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.

Guarantee Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) reulations 2000 you have the right to cancel for any reason your contract with us within seven days of receipt of the goods

Returns Policy All goods are handmade. If you are not satisfied with the quality we will take them back, provided the goods have not been displayed or sold.

Our textiles are machine washable on a cold and gentle cycle. Continuous exposure to bright sunlight will accelerate the fading process. Drying in a hot tumble dryer may result in shrinkage. Deep coloured textiles or rugs should not be placed on light coloured surfaces due to the possibility of colour transfer.
